Well long story short I conned the government into giving me 2 grand for a new laptop so what are some suggestions on a decent gaming laptop, most bang for my(the Canadian tax payers) buck?

if you got 2k for a laptop, go for the alien ware m17x, for me best gaming laptop out there, plus you can customize, so it could fill your needs.

ill put a link

Look at the sidebar, if not just make a thread asking for help, best place to ask for laptop suggestions imho.

If you ever suggest to get an Alienware ever again, I will find you irl!

Anyway,

Personally, I dislike laptops all together but especially for gaming. I would rather spend half the price on a Desktop PC and build it myself than buy a laptop. But I will tell you one thing, make sure that the laptop you buy doesn't have integrated graphics to run it, make sure it's got another graphics card so you can play hardcore.

But seriously, please get a Desktop PC.

I can't get a desktop because the laptop is "for school", and it doesn't matter how much it costs as long as it's under 2 grand I'm just tryin' to get the most out of it. I've been looking at Asus they seem to be pretty beast, but I was looking up the specs for the HP Envy and the new gfx card they have in there is supposed to be fairly good. It can run battlefield 3 which from my understanding rapes your fucking shit, albeit on a low setting. Plus brownie points for me being able to fuck around with it in 3D :D.

One decision was to go with the Dual 500gig hard drives and 3D or with the 126 gig SSD and a 750gig HDD with no 3D or full HD screen. Does anyone have an SSD and can give me an insight on how much better then an HDD it actually is?

Go for SSD, I don't have one but for sure i'm buying one asap when I get the money, saving for a car so idk when im gonna get one.

Going with this. 17 inch screen, 12 gigs of ram, 3gig videocard, 3D/Full HD. TB hd. I would of went with solid state if I had the option, but I bought it without customizing to save money. Cost 1957 after tax :D

Unfortunate you didn't get the SSD but sounds nice. Do you have the full specs please?

SSD is just amazing. I got one on my PC and it just feels like a total different thing.
Bad thing is it's expensive as fuck and doesn't support much space, so you actually gotta have another HD.

I'll put the specs up when I actually get it, send in the request and I should be receiving the $$$ soon :)
