Thought about starting a thread about the film, what people think about it, anyone intrested in it etc?
Been waiting alot and finally they set the premiere to be 8 february. (17:00 CET)
It's about the swedish filesharing tracker The Pirate Bay, how USA threated Sweden to stop selling anything to Sweden if the site wasn't closed when it was legal anyway.
The creator gonna release the film totally free, it gonna be available to download, they gonna stream it on the premiere and what I've heard TV channels are not gonna need to buy any right to show the movie/documentary.
And still he had made alot of profit on it by taking donations from kickstarter and sponsors so I believe this gonna be a huge step for filesharing and creators to actually find other methods to get paid.
It's not released yet but I would like to make a discussion about it anyway. Gonna be awesome or shit?

I'm not a fan of torrents due to the security holes they present, but I completely respect TPB and share their beliefs. I've been waiting for this to come out.

I might be wrong, but do you need to pay to watch it?
I mean, that's quite some double standards if so.

Watch the damn commercial, bro. It's creatives commons licence, completely free. Will stream free, TV for free, and download for free. The only thing you pay for is the digital disks (such as DVD), because those cost money to create and ship.

Well excuse me for a fast reply, but my eye got caught on the "pre-order digital" and "Pre-order DVD", with too fast thinking, the elevator never came to the right floor.

And i still love how fast you are to declare me as a dumbfuck everywhere i throw a comment!

You're not calling me one, but the fast answers, correct spelling and the fact that you're always right makes me look like one.

Would like to bump this thread and say that studios from Hollywood wants to take down the movie. (About 1 month old news, but still would like to share it)
Viacom, Paramount, Fox and Lionsgate have all asked Google to take down links pointing to the Pirate Bay documentary TPB-AFK.

So, basically, they are lying and says that they own the copyright for this?

They have automated software which detects and reports pirated content. Their software keeps detecting TPB: AFK as a false positive and reporting it as a copyrighted work, probably because its a movie file with "PIRATE BAY" in the name, one of their possible triggers.

Exactly, if you wanna know more watch the first "blog post" video on the site: watch.tpbafk.tv. The guy explains how the companies are either intentionally trying to fuck over TPB AFK, or they are trying to censor TPB from new users (more likely, as expressed in his video). It still would not surprise me in the slightest if they did intentionally try to censor the movie, as it won't help their business, and it does draw attraction to sites like TPB.
I do wonder what the guys are up to today though, I mean, would be interesting to know if they get net access while inside (since their lives are based on the internet, it would be extremist IMO of the authorities to refuse them what is commonly described in (at least British) parliament as a "basic human right", internet access.
Still, I guess no other prisoners get round the clock access to the internet...

I have no clue about these guys, but, Anders Behring Breivik, the man who did the bombing and shooting in Norway got round the clock access to internet etc.
But thats true, the "crime" these guys did is way worse!

They didn't really commit any crimes, it was made out to be far worse than it actually was because the big companies wanted more money off of them.

Yeah, there was a point in me saying "crimes".

Watched this movie some time ago, it was very interesting, I liked the perspective the guy in thailand had about work "as long as I have a computer I can work anywhere". Although I thought some of the legal stuff should have been explained more (but that's probably because I studied some law).
