Diference between magic sword and a rod??

whats the diference between a magic sword and a rod i know that a rod has the +ml but whats the diference any help?

Rods and wands provide more magic level and also deal damage.. I would always use a rod or wand versus a weapon for "defense" simply because your exp/hour will be boosted, you will kill things faster, heal for a bit more, etc, etc.

In the end, you'll always be profitable throughout Tibia unless you're using sudden death runes on cyclopes or something so really all you should ever concentrate on is experience ;P

You can also look at armor calculators and see if its even worth it to wear certain items (platinum amulet is practically useless for example).

In my opinion rods and wands for when you are a shooter. OR soloing from 8-200~ unless you are fighting things that have hard melee and you don't have a lot of time to run for it. But Sword for defense after that, it helps your waste SOOOO much :D

wait what are you talking about? Wand and rod = same .. no def.. diff attributes.
Anyway what I don't understand about mage using sov is: I read an article that said defense is based on your shield not your weapon. Idk it was a while ago could of read wrong or something

Mind blown..
Wands are for Sorcerers.
Rods are for druids.
Melee weapons are for adding a bit more defense, usually used when the monsters run fast and you can't out run them. The damage reduced is not much as your shield counts up for most of your defense, however it does provide an extra couple of points in defense. Most times when you do a quest or hunt a knight will be blocking for you as mana shield depletes quite fast and your HP is quite low. Solo hunting you will not be fighting as strong of monsters, in some cases, such as hunting lower game for profit e.g. dworcs it is much better to use a sword as they do not hit hard and you will always profit.

I hope this clears it up, I still do not fully understand the question so I thought I would explain it a bit for you. :)

Its pointless to ever use a melee weapon instead of a Rod/Wand. Especially when you can use the +1 mlvl ones..

Always use wand. More mlvl = more healing / more damage. Little bit extra damage too. You negate like average 6 damage (on 200+ dmg hits) with +3 def instead of wand, worthless.
