Measure to Alleviate Impact of DDoS Attacks

During the last week, players had to suffer from the negative effects of on-going malicious DDoS attacks against our servers and our service provider. We received lots of feedback from you about this which we took to heart.

With today's server save, we implemented a measure to mitigate the negative impact that such extensive connection issues obviously have on your game experience.

If your death counts as a PvE death, this means any death that is not a PvP death, and is a direct consequence of exceptional connection issues such as a heavy DDoS attack, you will not receive any death penalty. You will be teleported to the temple but you will neither lose experience, nor skills, nor items, nor blessings, nor an Amulet of Loss.

Of course, we will also continue to work on improving the protection of our servers in close cooperation with our service provider to offer a trouble free game experience, and to ensure that you can enjoy Tibia.

We would like to thank you again for your patience, and we sincerely apologise for the loss of fun and for the frustration you had to put up with due to these connection issues.

I said in gc some days ago "they should just compensate deaths that happened within a few secs of a kick when the player disconnected, they must have that data" and BAM they did it, I really hope this shit works properly.

i had a masskick on my server and 2 moneymakers died, lost equips on both

Yes its not 100%. was in english chat 4/6 had it work for them.. the higher levels seemed to lose xp and skills

I don't even think it's 1% I just died because of masskicks, nothing unusual happened. Which means I did lose stuff and all that.

And having a look at http://forum.tibia.com/forum/?action=board&boardid=13 we can see that it doesn't seem to work for anyone. ^^

Let's celebrate CipSofts stupidity, taunting DDoS with a system that has flaws.

Died for the first time on my knight (lvl 136) today, because of the ddos attacks. Leveled down to 135 and lost all my blessings :(. The alleviation is obviously not working.

The system doesn't work when we're lagged as hell.
Seems like it works only when kicked out of the game, what usually happens after 3-10sec heavy lag.
I knew it was too awesome to be real and cips still can't get anything done properly.

4 deaths here.

Now, why does the system work for some and not for others? Well, the challenge here is that the system must react to something. A reaction can only happen after the trigger happened to which it is supposed to react. Naturally, that means that it will always be a little delayed. What you see is really that those characters that die very quickly unfortunately die in the seconds before the system reacts. This will usually apply to characters that are more vulnerable, be it due to their current situation (for example hunting hard monsters that appear in groups) or due to differences in their vocation (HP, defense capability etc).

It's basically about luck yeah, but since DDoSers figured out how to make us all die now you won't be lucky anymore.

It worked as this when you lose shit: Servers get pinged, you die, Servers recognize ping and saves people

And when you don't lose shit(saved): Servers get pinged, you get DC but are still alive and well, Servers recognize ping and saves people, you die but lose nothing.

So basically the delay between the server picking up the attack and the moment they can send out the "save" shit is to long, and now the pingers only ping so we get huge freezes but not kicks, which means this new system is not triggered. So far spent 1,9kk bless huashua, never learn..

I got lucky today on the mage and it worked

I dont get why thought when I have 3 clients up, sometimes only 1 or 2 dc and the others go right back to hunting
