Not letting me attack while in party?

I'm trying to train my knight with my mage as a blocker but after making the party it won't let me attack the character. It says you may not attack this player. It also won't let me join an aggression. How do I fix this?

This is exactly what I've been doing for the last 2 days. 63/63 and magic level 4 so far. About to activate my double exp/skills voucher to gain a little faster.
