View Full Version : What if this was planned?

I have been playing this game on and off for roughly 12 years and just had a quick thought. What if this was CIPs plan to allow bots to stay with the game for so long and use their premium money to develop their game. Once CIP was satisfied with the game content, server protection, and had money set aside for advertising they delete all bots. Then combine servers and start working on community structure? In a sense, the botters did pay for a nice chuck of game development. Just seemed odd that they focused on expanding content so much whil they obviously had the ability to delete us. As I said... Just a thought.

Maybe CIP is a lil smarter than we thought ^.-

i fail to see how the game is being destroyed i believe bots do more good for tibia then harm what player is going to go farm out all the shit for addon and outfits its just so much simpler to farm the money and thats what people would rather do and bots allow them 2 with 0 bots tibia would die imo

I dont think it was long planned for, but i do think its possible they noticed how much more money they were making with world transfers account name character name sex changes ect. Far fewer of these would have been purchased without botted traded chars moving around their servers.

people tend to do this a lot without trading accounts

however almost EVERY traded account gets world xferred, thats like 2 scrolls to them? plus new scrolls are activated onto these bought accounts. And of course if these accounts werent botted up in the first place, where would they be for people to buy?
My point is that botters and botted accounts help drive more profit from their 'extra' services which seem to CATER to account traders, like really. 'let me just...change my account name, order a new RK, change my char name, sex, and world! thats ROLEPLAYING'

I have to agree, for example I spend €170 so far this year just for recovery keys. Since most of the customers, as you mentioned also world transfer and perhaps change the char/account name etc you can imagine that they probably gained more from people selling/trading accounts than that they would loose. Premium scrolls would most likely be purchase anyways, no matter if it's a bought account or an account that people leveled themself.

People do get hacked, people do move, people do want to change their sex, name and world for fun/gaming purpose.

Nothing strange about it imo, but of course it is more used by account traders.

What a retarded statement. I don't mind bots and learned to live with them but they are 100% the reason why tibia is in the trash state that it is now.

I've been playing tibia for over a decade, and even in the peak of tibia's popularity there always been PL/BR dominance. The difference was that when you messaged someone you had 99% chance of speaking to a human being. There was a community feel to the game, but no more.

Bots were always present more or less, but I suppose the possibility to bot high level characters especially mages and paladins was the major downfall of this...
Not speaking of the worse and worse pvp at the same time...

I'd personally love some sort of Tibia 2, with a fresh new start for everyone without bots. Or at least a server where this would be possible...

Yes, and before that it was SWE?!, before that Americans invaded a primarily German player-base. I don't think they ruined the game at all, but considering how easy it was for people to bot up ridiculously high level characters to throw their weight around... Nothing to do with nationality, most people are dicks in general. More people playing the game, and more people botting = more dicks with high level characters.

If I recall the 3.4.4 update twitch stream, Darkstar blamed Tibia's shittiness on how easy it is to make a bot for it, and thus how easy it is to get high level characters.

I've thought about this too, but I'm sure it's not a long-term plan, rather something they realized the past couple of years.
Cipsoft is a business after all so I highly doubt they'll have a new system to ban all botters, it would simply kill their business. Games like Tibia and Runescape can't survive without bots since there's no real goal other than to grind XP and bots are the best at doing that.
In order to sustain some kind of community they let the legit players know they are working on it bla bla bla, to prevent the game from entirely being run by bots (which would lead to a downfall).

The recent ban wave of guilds, either for botting or destructive behavior, is just some marketing stunt. Take a look at the forums, all the legit players are cheering and loving Cipsoft for doing it. Meanwhile they're rebuilding, getting new accounts, new prem scrolls and so on.

Anyone else notice how horribly off topic this got?
