If your computer did not come with Windows 8, it will have some issues with drivers unless you have a BIOS update.
It's not worth it for people don't play DirectX 11.2 games... Don't upgrade.

well that's the only shit i play so i guess i'm staying away from it
I bought pro for the virtualization. I am very happy with the purchase. While Hyper-V is harder to set up and interact with than VMWare (imho), the performance is better for me by far.
The OS has a slightly different feel even in desktop mode, but I wanted to run multiple VM's though individual VPN connections at the same time.

8.1 is 8 isn't all that great.
If you get 8 you can upgrade to 8.1 for free.

Yea, good point. I run 8.1...I didn't like standard 8 at all.

8 is fine if you do the fixes to the interface, then it's just like 7. But, it runs more efficiently.
I'm still using 7 though because I actually have a legitimate copy of 7 and not going to buy one for 8, might as well keep it legitimate... also I'm lazy and don't want to switch. I think the main advantage of 8 is bootup time and my computer shuts off maybe twice a month if that even, so not a big deal.

I feel like I'm alone in that I really do like everything about Windows 8. Except the default Skype is kinda shit.

I use 8.1 on both of my main computers. Over all I like it a lot. Originally there was a problem with tibia where the framerate would only be MAX or 15fps but they fixed it a few updates ago. Even with that bug I was able to run tibia in compatibility mode and framerate would work.

I'll be getting Windows 8.1 with my next computer build or purchase. Games released this fall (and from then on) will be running with support for DirectX 11.2, which Windows 7 does not have. As I'm a pretty big gamer, I'll want to upgrade sooner than later. Also, DirectX 12.0 comes out next year. I'm assuming the next version of Winblows will also be out by then.

8.1 is super fast. It takes a little time to get use to it, but overall it's a huge improvement over Windows 7.

Didn't had any big problems yet and everything working fine.
You should try it out, if your pc is good enough. :)

I was pretty disappointed with Windows 8 but when 8.1 came out and i upgraded to it, i simply can't go back to 7!
With Microsoft every other operating system is good. XP - Amazing - Vista - SHIT - Win 7 - Amazing - Win 8 - Shit.

Windows 8 is okay, functions perfectly fine, and doesnt deserve anywhere near the amount of stick it recieves. However, its not as good as windows 7 unless your using a touch screen.
The main difference is obviously the icons as a home page (which i know can be changed to the old desktop), but these icons are kinda useless/bad without touch screen. If using windows 8 the same as you would any of the old windows operating systems, with the traditional home page then i dont see much point in upgrading to 8

Windows 9 will be awesum operating system.
i upgraded from 7 to 8.1 and i think it has it pro's and con's. all in all you have to get used to it but i wouldn't say its 100% worth to upgrade

It's most certainly not, even after months of being released there's still many compatibility issues.
