View Full Version : Best melee weapon type for non-knights?

For knights, I prefer axes. However, what is the best melee weapon type for non-knights, if any? I was most active on Tibia before wands and rods were even introduced, so perhaps I'm oldschool and there is no real reason for non-knights to use melee weapons anymore, but it seems like there would still be some benefits.

For example, a mage could go kill some rotworms with a melee weapon for example, while also making runes (to use or sell). Also, they could use it to kill weak monsters that they simply don't want to waste mana on but are in the way.

Likewise, a paladin could carry around a cheap melee weapon to use for if he runs out of ammo or doesn't want to waste it. For example, I have been fighting goblins on a low level paladin lately, and I've personally resorted to going back to town and buying more small stones when I ran out. But some players may prefer to stay profitable and switch to a melee weapon while collecting some more stones.

On that note, Tibia really went extreme on reducing the droprate for small stones -- it's the only good choice for training for paladins at all, and we can't buy them from NPC's, they constantly break now, and I don't even get them faster than they break when I'm fucking hunting goblins! Fuck you Tibia!

There doesn't seem to be any good options for axes for a non-knight before level 20. I was going to use a battle axe but it's knight only now apparently.

Anyhow, I've done a tiny bit of research into which would be the best melee choice for these classes, but it's not very clear what the best answer is. Clubs are cheap (extremely important since this isn't even a main weapon), but heavy. Not too familiar with options at different levels. Dragon hammer still looks like a decent but heavy option for the type of battling I'm talking about.

Also not so sure about swords. Serpent sword looks strong early on, but not sure about past that.

Swords are probably your best bet, the cheapest I would say also i mean it really depends how much you have to spend and also the level of your char etc.
