Specs:

CPU: i7-3630QM 3.4GHz
GPU: 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ GTX 660M
Driver Version: 337.88
RAM: 12GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
OS: Windows 8.1

Over the last couple months I have been experiencing screen tearing as seen in this image:

http://4.ii.gl/wZgKWwD3.png

Obviously this is a picture and not a video but it's constantly flickering and gets worse until the game crashes (Dota2)
Interestingly enough I can play Heroes of Newerth with next to no problems, but other games such as Titan Fall I have the same issue as with Dota2.

I have tried every settings inside the Nvidia control panel and inside the games, and tried installing multiple versions of the drivers. Nothing seems to be able to solve the problem, I'm beginning to assume that the issue is hardware related, does anyone know anything to help?

League can suck my balls for all I care, if you want to play an easy dumbed down version of Dota/HoN go for it, but that's not for me. If you have anything relevant to post please feel free.

i dont think anyone can help you without your in-game settings but maybe theres someone with yedi mind tricks that could.

do you have vertical sync ?
do you enable p2p on router ?
did you try moving configs ingame?

Vertical Sync on/off no effect.
The router has nothing to do with the graphics nor dota2/other newer games, aside from torrenting protocols not sure why you would need it for a game.
Don't even know what you're talking about with this one.

Edit: As I said in the first post, none of the in-game settings seem to have any effect.

i had the same issue with league of legends but it was the p2p on my router or at least i thought so, couldnt load the market and so on, did you tried to update your graphic card ?
can you play without shadows ? check if you can ignore shadows or not load them in game, and if the error remains.

theres a lot of thigns that can couse it, but.... im going to hit my jackpot on do you have more than 60 fps ? if so try 50-60 did the error remain ?

also monitor FR ?

btw vertical sync should be able to fix it, restart the game ???

tried restore graphics to default ?

Restarting the game with veritcal sync does nothing.
Monitor refresh rate is 60Hz
Restoring the Graphics doesn't fix it.
The FPS jumps around with vertical sync on and off.

I hope you have warranty left on your system because there are only two culprits I've ever seen that explain tearing:

Corrupted Video Driver: Try reinstalling your driver. If this does not work, I would back up all of your files and attempt to do a complete Windows reinstallation.
Dead/Dying/Faulty Graphics Card: If the above does not resolve the issue, then it is likely that your GPU is dying.

My suggestion to you is to attempt to do everything you can before freaking out. But 9/10 times when I've seen screen tearing and crashing, the video card was bad and needed to be replaced.

This is what I figured, I was planning on buying a new computer anyway, not a big deal. Was trying to see if someone would post something I missed.

You should wait a while before purchasing a new computer, unless you can find an amazing deal or need a PC right now. Maxwell is going to be released soon.

Have you tried turning the PC off and on again?

It can be caused by the Monitor.

I got a similar problems with some games few months ago, when this ones got updated!

The error was that the monitor couldnt afford the resolution of the game.

Finally I bought a new monitor and all done, but I dont know if is the same error and I dont wanna that you spend money in my theory.

This. Recently my desktop monitor started getting faint artifacts in one corner of the screen. I thought I was going crazy. Though it may have been my computer. Turns out it was just the monitor.
Elvang Try hooking your computer up to another monitor, if you can. See if that's the problem.

It's a laptop, and it still has the issue if I use the TV that is plugged in for movies.

My next suggestion would be to back your laptop up to an external hard drive, format your laptop's hard drive, reinstall Windows, and see if that fixes your problem. If not, contact the laptop manufacturer (it should still be under warranty?), and see about getting it fixed/replaced.

Those aren't necessarily the reasons for screen tearing, more often than not its something else.

@Topic
Try limiting your FPS to 59 (or anything below your monitor's refresh rate), this is usually one of the most common reasons for it in my experience, although I don't know if you can limit FPS in LOL. If it doesn't work don't be surprised, the list of reasons for screen tearing are endless, this issue is best taken up in hardware forums like tomshardware (~google) where you'll find loads of advice and troubleshooting methods to find the source of the issue.

Of course not. I never said they were.
