well i built a new pc build last year but i need a new one for something else basically id like to build a system while very large scale storage iv got 1500 dvds id like to store on it + id like to be able to add a lot more to that i would also like the system to be able to play video games this system will be hooked up to a 46" tv wireless keyboard and mouse
i have a huge cabinet for the tv it sits on so i could turn that into a holder for some rack mounts i would like this to
start with about 20tb and possibly build up to a possibly 500tb

since i got such good input here on my last build i figured why the hell not ask about this one 2 lol original build should be 2000$ or less with from 5-20tb of storage and and ability to play any game dosnt have to play games like battlefield 4 very well just play them> i.e i had a old i7 920 that played bf4 hardware isnt a big deal it will mostly be for movies and facebook shit like that storage is most important

Your only "." was in "id est"... Hard text to read, mate.

Considering 4TB is going to be about 160 dollars and 6TB is going to be 3-400 dollars, you're going to have to wait a few years for 500TB; for the technology to get there.

Blu-ray discs or DVDs? If they're just DVDs you definitely don't need half a petabyte.
You can rip and encode the DVDs to around 800mb-1.5gb. Let's keep it simple and say 1GB per disc.
That's only 1.5 terabytes... personally I'd just get a NAS with hot-swappable drives.

One thing to note, hard-drives will die, if you don't want to waste more drives on a RAID setup, at least make sure you backup to tape-drives, blu-ray discs, or keep your dvds.
