View Full Version : 4th Time Being Hacked...

Before anyone says anything, I'm not blaming any xenobot admins/mods or anyone on the forums. I'm just letting you guys know that the reason I got hacked (again) is probably because someone sent a letter to my mailbox (from a 2nd account I'm assuming) the night before that said "you've broken violation 3b, visit bans-tibia.com etc...". I posted this thread because I don't want anyone else getting hacked because they're paranoid about the well-being of their account. Just check the official website and don't be an idiot like me. Now, like the title states, this is my 4th time being hacked. I've never gotten hacked this way, but I'd say this all might revolve around the same problem: not changing password/email/account name frequently. What do you guys think?
edit: I was hoping people would catch on to the fact that this was supposed to be a thread made to give constructive feedback on how to avoid getting hacked. Not taking the problems I have called myself out upon and throwing them right back in my face. Jesus. If some people spent as much time helping/giving certain feedback on these forums as they do flaming every new-comer they see, this website (and really the world) would be a better place.

don't go on the sites the letter sends you too.
That's my only thought on that
END
Never enter sites you are not 100% sure they are safe.

Yeah, I get that. But what about the other 3 times that didn't involve going to websites?
what did u lose?
All together, probably 5-7 decent mid-levels sets. But if you include those into the money that was taken out of character accounts, probably ~2-3kk.

No offence, but you're an idiot and deserve to get hack. (especially if its the fourth time)
But.. you do learn from mistakes.

No offense? Fuck off, buddy. I was hoping this could be a thread to help people, not criticize them. No offense, but you're an idiot if you can't even read my other posts. As I said, the other 3 hacks had nothing to do with external links. Guess this still makes me an idiot for having bad luck getting hacked? Go on somewhere, troll.

Lol it's not bad luck getting hacked by going to a fake website sent as a letter to you. Did the guy have bad luck that shot himself in the head? Like gordo said.. Your an idiot. I bet you'll goto any link that says free kks!

The most common thing i hear is "change password regulary".... well no unless the company holding your password is hacked and the hackers get your password then you never need to change it... I've had my same hotmail account and email adress for 12 years and have NEVER has someone use my account for spam or anything without me knowing and my permission the same can also be said about my first ever tibia account i made 11 years ago.... still the same, never hacked.
I think your problem is that you are stupid enough to click a random link then you are stupid enough to get hacked frequently by many other ways... sorry to call you stupid but its the truth.
Also my top tip for account security is dont use same passwords for multiple sites...

Don't use Flash or Java (uninstall them). Keep your browser up-to-date.

This was the answer I was looking for. May as well delete this thread, being that I'm tired of everyone thinking I'm constantly going to different websites through tibia (Though I've only done this once......)

Well, if you read WORD-FOR-WORD what I said, you'd know that I'm talking about being hacked over the course of 5 years. ONE of those hacks is from:
1. Manually typing www.bans-tibia.com in browser after opening new tab
2. Forgetting the tab was open and trying to check account info later
I'll admit myself that the latest incident was very stupid on my part. I'm a human. I made plenty of mistakes throughout my life. But to call me a stupid idiot for thinking this is a daily thing I do (which as stated multiple times, is not) is a extremely ignorant.

Instead of insulting me, name 3 other ways a person can get hacked and you'll actually be doing something constructive for this thread.
