It seems a lot of people on my server somehow know roughly when a boss may spawn e.g. main bosses such as ferumbras or just mount bosses etc. anyone know how they know this and may be willing to share some info?

It's totally random. But you will see a message like 15 minutes before so they'll be there when it spawns.

U are wrong, It SHOULD BE tottaly random, but its not. Maximum time of boss spawns is 168 (or 169 i am not sure) days and sadly this "random time" comes in 90% of cases after this time when boss have spawn.

It's coded in, if you can read the code you can predict days when the boss spawns and for some bosses, which location it will go to. You can do this and predict within 3-5 day period when it'll spawn. It get's technical, I have over 100 encounters logged on notepad in Unitera alone since the September before last years(2013) logging. There is a pattern :p For example, Midnight panthers and Man in the Cave on Unitera.

"October, 13th(2013) - Midnight Panther, South Spawn. ~ Tamed
November, 19th(2013) - Man in the Cave. ~ Empty
March, 17th(2014) - Midnight Panther, South Spawn. ~ Empty
April, 22ed(2014) - Man in the Cave. ~ Fur Cap
April, 29th(2014) - Midnight Panther, East Spawn. ~ Panther Paw"

None until the release of the unblockable spawns. It also seems some bosses have had their spawn times increased.

"September, 7th 2014, Midnight Panther, South Spawn. ~ Empty
September, 27th 2014, Midnight Panther South Spawn. ~ Empty
October, 12th 2014, Man in the Cave. ~ Merc Sword
October, 21st 2014, Midnight Panther, South Spawn. ~ Panther Paw
November, 30th 2014, Man in the Cave. ~ Empty
December, 21st 2014, Midnight Panther, South Spawn. ~ Empty"

I can confirm The results of your theory. Today is 17th of March 2016 and i ran to check out midnight panther. I found him, and he was located at the south spawn, just as you mentioned. Kind of cool. I failed to tame it though, caus i was stupid to use The whip instead of running and buy A music box. I just didnt think i would face it haha, sad.

no it's coded for example I think 11~ 17 days and it comes to ANY of the 3 spawns BUT all 3 spawns will pop within a week of each other
