The OX Server - [Project Canceled]

[Syntax]

Server development has ceased and the project has been cancelled.

We've evaluated the workload and man hours needed to complete and run the server and it's not viable to continue development.
Soon, we'll be venturing into other markets that have a higher playerbase and more room for growth, we've even discussed making our own game as that fits our goal more than an OT server.
We wish all OT developers the best of luck when it comes to their projects, but for us the market just isn't there for the scale we want.

Similar to ShadowCores, botting is allowed. AFK botting will have some sort of consequence, like being skulled.
No banishments for normal botting.

I hope by having both NA & EU servers it'll help reduce lag for everyone, as long as they choose the server that's fastest for them.

8.6 is really outdated and I'm ultimately unsure why there's such a huge following for it. We wanted to get away from that, hopefully other people will want to as well. :)

Yes Mike, there will be a paid shop.

So far the basis of the shop is simple:


Micro-transactions:
(Keep the shop clean, simple and cheap.)
Tibia's paid outfits:
(Death Herald, Ranger, Conjuruer, Champion, etc.)
Tibia's paid mounts:
(Blackpelt, Black Stag, Jade Pincher, etc.)
Obtainable in-game items:
(Boots of Haste, Paladin Armor, Blade of Corruption, Spellbook of Vigilance, etc.)

There will be special items purchasable in the shop too of course, you'll see things like sex changes, world transfers, name changes & more.

Aside from the purchasing, there will also be special items rewarded to those of you that spend an accumulative amount like Shadow Draptor, Crimson Ray, Entrepreneur outfit, Jersey outfit & more. These items / mounts / outfits will not be obtainable in-game nor directly from our shop, they will only be awarded through accumulative purchases.

Haha, so basically what's happened so far is... We've taken all quests in real Tibia and made three different lists.

1) Every "simple chest" quest has been added to the server. If its something like going out to Outlaw Camp and dragging a barrel to a location, dropping a power ring on a table and pulling a few levers, we've got it. If its as simple as going down into Thais Lighthouse and picking up a dark shield, we've got it. Everyone "simple chest" quest has been added and checked to make sure they're accessible and working.

2) All NPC driven quests have been sorted into two groups, quests that are required to have in-game before launching the BETA (Inquisition, Pits of Inferno, Blessed Stake, etc) and quests that we decide are less needed (Venore Daily Tasks, A Scatterbrained Sorcerer, Against the Spider Cult, etc). All of the quests that we decided were required to have before BETA will be implemented and tested before the launch of the BETA.

3) All remaining quests (the ones we previously decided aren't worth squeezing in before the beta) will be added after the BETA launch, they simply have lesser priority than other major features of the server.

It seems to be something that a lot of OT servers think is the right approach. We, on the other hand, feel like the server shouldn't be tilting the odds against non-paying players versus paying customers.

The BETA will be a good gauge to test our current experience stages, if at that point we feel the need to adjust them then we certainly will. I know there's a large amount of people that enjoy slower rated servers but there is also a large amount of people that enjoy medium to higher rated servers.. We're simply trying to fill the void and meet a have a good medium for everyone.

Several people have expressed their concerns about the stone skin amulet & might ring issues that other servers have. We may have to add some sorta exhaustion (1-2 seconds) to the equipping amulets & rings but as of right now there is nothing in place. We're just going to have to see how it goes and take the feedback from the community if and when it becomes a problem.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Paladin makes good damage pvp. Their utito makes them hit like 300-600 each shot + holy missile rune (100~), its more than a mage hit with SD. Also since everyone is wearing koshei they hit even more with mas san. Im sorry but I dont think paladins are weak in real tibia, what the creators of the OT chooses is up to them doe :)

Level 100 Knights, Sorcerers and Druid can hit harder with exevo gran frigo hur, exevo vis hur and exori gran than a level 200 paladin. Both on monsters and in PVP. They can even hit harder with exori, exevo vis lux and avalanches (on both mages).

I suggest you to do 1x exp stage from 180lvl+ ... please pay attention to that if they are novel cities like Ornamond or Roshamuul people will be 40mln/h with 2x exp stage... on RlTibia ppl have 20mln/h on 1x exp. I think that no one wants to on the server after a month were large 1k lvl and 1000kks balance hehe...would be better if people themselves earn money and gradually achieved higher levels.. I do not know if I wrote everything correctly but I think everyone knows what's going on.

The NA beta will start Friday evening for NA players.

We tested against Magebot dash and it immediately kicked the player. ;)

I've just disabled casts, they are not intended to be used right now. This is why we didn't want people joining in prior to the open BETA on Friday.

Yes, you can "use" a stack of coins to convert it.

No, red skull trapping is a PvP tactic and is possible in real Tibia Retro PvP servers. Banning people for doing it is like chopping off your own cock.

I wish you guys luck with the beta. It's probably the most important time during a server's development process. If you need any ideas or whatnot, I'd be happy to help. Despite never successfully gathering a team myself for my project, I did write up some pretty good plans, and even suggested a new tracking program to Joe in the past (of which I wish he would have finished).

Anyway, good luck. You guys derserve the players and I hope you can build & maintain a healthy online community - both in game and on the forums.

Yes we decided to cease development.
We wanted an Open Tibia Server to be a viable investment, but the hours left to invest in it weighed against the projected income were not practical.
I know a lot of people were interested in it and supported it, but the Tibia market has a very limited playerbase.
We'll be venturing into other markets and games, possibly creating our own.

We're not done developing, but we'll be moving on to greater things.

I hosted an OT back in the days, Arachnas.com for people who reconize it? I got banned for spoofing exacly same reason the OX server has been banned for. The server was growing alot, We had around 400 players daily. I got an e-mail, I remember this like it was today, It said you need to pay 200€ or we will attack the server & your server will be permanantly banned if you not paying the money & didnt pay him 200€ , Then they started to attack my server, I lost alot of players my 400 players in an week!

Biggest mistake is if something starts and then you do not finish.. why in general you started, if you assume in advance that it does not work out...
quantity of players is definitely not the reason, for which the server will not start. I think that is another reason, because players are not the problem, and it would be their very much.. you may run out of motivation? I do not know what was the cause but...I wish that it had to be end.
I hope you thinking about it again, and you make a decision.

When you start a company, or let's say an ot server, you should not expect it to go by profit in the first days/months lol.
Open it, improve it, show that its the best server around and then cash in when you deserve it.
