I'm sure you all know of Tibiacast. I recently had trouble while trying to create a new account. Apparently, I couldn't register because my router had a weird setting that made it appear as if I was using a web proxy. I sent a (sort of angry) email. This was the conversation we had.

I keep receiving this problem:

After checking your IP, system detected that you are using Web-Proxy. Sorry, but registration from Web-Proxy is denied on this forum. If you think that there is some mistake, you can use contact form to contact with Administrator.

I am not using any proxy. What is the point in this feature if it does not even work?

The remote router management interface you're using is interpreted as being a proxy. Turn it off during registration and things will work just fine.
Regards,
John Hogberg

I'm a tenant, I don't have access to the router. Is there any way to bypass this? Also, why do you use this feature? It's the only place I've encountered this problem.

It's used because it keeps the forum spambots out, and so far it has offered a near-100% success rate over the last two years. I've turned it off for now though to let you register, if any spambots sneak through I'll just handle it manually for a few days. ;)

Regards,
John Hogberg

This guy is awesome. Figured I'd share.

Pretty sure it has to do with the tibiacast name you're trying to use, seriously. I got the same error a while back, and when I tried a different name two minutes after it let me. Worst come to worst, I can make you one <3

Didn't even get to the part where you pick a name, haha. The error is exactly what John mentioned, but the fact that he disabled the feature so that I could make an account is pretty cool of him.

Most of the places here in Canada do xD (Well, if you're renting rooms).

Same here, I didn't think about renting rooms though, normally that doesn't have any tenancy agreement and is just like "ye move in, pay me this much, and if you wanna leave just leave..." no contract etc...
