If you're economically on the edge so you can't even afford 10$ for a game, I don't think you should buy it in the first place nor spend time on a game. There are many reasons for people being poor, but there's no excuse for not putting in work to achieve your goals. There are a lot of causes I'd donate my money to, this however is not one. I hope your friend does well in the hospital.
