The old laboratory of Nikola Tesla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla), the most influencial and under-recognized inventor in history, is up for sale in Wardenclyffe, NY (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wardenclyffe_Tower). Current technology would be decades behind what it is now without the sacrifices this man made. He spent his life continuing his research as people like Edison and Marconi stole his credit. He patented many of his ideas, but, unlike Edison, let people use them and didn't work for the profit. Tesla was okay with the fact that he got no fame or recognition for his outstanding accomplishments - he knew the giving us the future was enough. "Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine." ~Nikola Tesla

A non-profit orginization is trying to buy this laboratory and turn it into the first Nikola Tesla museum in the US - Let's help make this happen. I donated 100$.

Proof I'm not talking out my ass. (http://www.indiegogo.com/contribute1345125795)

Donate time! Let people know about this. It will be years before they can restore the property and finish a museum, and I'll probably never get to see it, but damned if Tesla doesn't deserve it.

I'll donate to the cause, I actually went to high school with one of his relatives.

Edit: Just read that he only has 1 remaining relative, so the guy I went to school with was full of shit haha. Last name was Tesla though :p

Tesla already invented something like "perpetum mobile" but nowadays researches are kept away from other in shelves, because government and all these structures are aimed to make profit, not to help people. People who make great inventions to make life easier are killed. I don't think that this donation will help, but meh

Thanks for the update Nachoo, Glad to see they made the money for it. Testla was/is the man! I mean who else would sacrifice and let others use their inventions for the greater good of humanity, not many people. Most are just looking to get rich off of it.

Old thread but I've just come across it. As an electrical engineer I can back up what darkstar says, without this man modern electronics would be decades behind. Thwarted by edison in his time, and his revolutionary work trampled so edison could keep his patents selling, tesla is the reason why we can power most of the world. The father of AC current and a pioneer into electrical engineering he died in poverty, not caring about wealth and fame but giving the majority of his lifes work away for FREE. I cannot express my respect and gratitude for this guy.
Thanks dark for letting people know about how amazing this man was.
