[Poll] Reuputation system?

Reuptation system - A player can either +rep or -rep a player for making a bad/good post. Rep power is the key to repping someone and will be the source on how much you can +rep or -rep. Example: Floppy Jimmy has 4 rep power and decides to +rep someone. The player who got +rep'd will now gain 4 reputation points. Rep power is also based on your post count and current reputation points.

Ranked system - A player gets certain ranks for thier activity on the forums. Ranks are based on post counts and is just a cool achievement to gain for being active on the forums.

If you feel like I've missed something or want to add your own suggestions, feel free to post and I'll add them.

What about both ranked and rep? =) Although I kind of liked the idea of reputation points if you were about to buy some gold or characters or stuff like that.

Could be useful in script threads aswell...

That's why the reputation system is flawed. Some people think that high rep = trustworthy. And it can be abused in order to scam that way.

I thought about a like system aswell. But in a way it sort of becomes a one way reputation system where it's only possible to +rep or like in this matter.

And regarding the ranked system, it shouldn't be too much of a problem because the ranks would most likely have alot of posts between them and gives no real benefit except looking cool. But then again, some people would probably spam but that's where moderators come in handy.

If we we're to add reputation system (which I highly think we will) it won't be 100% like the Neobot Forum system, we'll be working out as much flaws as we possibly can to give you a great system and make sure it gives and ourselves the ease to stop from +rep/-rep trolls.

I also think everyone should be able to see your rep (Not the amount of rep, but the actual descriptions of what the rep was for) so people will be able to tell if your rep is bullshit or a good rep.

That's why measures to decrease the ease of manipulation will take place, hopefully.

the most important thing is that we dont have a -repping frenzy, that has to be controlled. I dont care about the possibility to earn points to outweigh the minuses, if you cant contribuite enough to outweigh the minuses given by morons. You will always be on the losing side, thats why -repping system with no control is a real bad way to go,

That's what I dislike about that.

You're supposed to rep people on whether theyre helpful, whether you like it etc.. -repping someone because they -rep you is pathetic, but it will happen.

Actually it's a smart idea, I think mods could ban ppls from giving rep :p

It would be a fun idea to have rat to demon etc. BUT, people will spam as hell on forums only so they get high post counts = better ranks.

well both systems have there floors and plus sides.
when i trade with people i often take both into account, and if its based on rank i always check there post history to make sure its not all trash talk and junk being posted to up the counts.
i saw on guy on here already that joined same day i did and he made 2/300 posts? in 2 days lol. people like that would ruin any system be it +rep or otherwise because often people just ask players to +rep them. so there would have to be rules and maybe a ban system in place for people found to be always asking for rep, it shouldnt be something you ask for anyways :P they should only give if you done a good job or gd post etc ;) same as on neo.

Maybe a rank system with the possibility to add a thanks or a like button, that adds to the total score of the user (or not adds).

All systems can be abused, but the worst thing is the negative aspect, thats why negative feedback has a bigger downside.

A rep system who be able to see some or all reason of the reps from the person who was repped, like this we will be able to know if the rep+ was for something or only a friend who did for friendship.

But I also defend the rep system that only Mods, Super Mods or the Admin could be able to rep the person, like this we also know that the rep+ was for something good.

I think it's good with a reputation system. Example: You know who you can trust and who you can't. When you buying a premium for tibia cash at trade section. People have got no idea if the guy got any vouches, yea people keep posting "trusted one 100% safe" but how hard is it to create some chars wait some days make some posts on it and just post it? It's not.
Reputation system works very well and it's quite useful. Lately when people will sell professional scripts, its quite good to have it and see who is trusted and so on.

Ofcourse it may be abused but just try to balance the system as neobot forum did. It was really good one.

The ranked system sounds much better than the reputation system. Reputation system is decent, but it is fairly flawed and has a few loop holes.

I think that if there should be a ranked system, it should only be senior/trusted members who are allowed to rank up all other users, which would be more beneficial than the rep system. Allowing for only genuine members to decide who are trustworthy in their eyes.
