View Full Version : Breaking News on Tibia.com (Changes of the walking speed)
Have you all read the newest moronic idea of cip to reduce players speed.
Damn cip cant stop surprising us.
New Law of Speed
TIBIA. In a widely discussed study, scientists have found out that, despite common belief, one of the Tibian laws of nature is about to be influenced by a cosmic force. As a result, the speed of all living (and undead) beings in Tibia, humans and monsters alike, will change. Of course, we have summed up the scientific theory for our readers:
Characters will still get faster with every level-up but the increase rate per level will be curbed. The new speed formula will follow a logarithmic pattern of growth instead of a linear one. As we are not a scientific magazine, though, we do not want to get too technical here. This new formula will also have the effect that characters below level 175 will walk faster than they currently do while characters above this level will be somewhat slower. We asked scientists to provide us with some examples for our readers: A level 30 will be about 25% faster than now, and a level 100 will be about 13% faster. A level 200 will be about 4% slower than now, and a level 300 will be about 17% slower. Please note, though, that the formula is still subject to change! So the TNA does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. The speed of monsters will be adjusted accordingly so that the relative proportions between the speed of monsters and characters will remain the same.
The new speed conditions will be simulated in a testing environment so we recommend interested readers to join this test if they get a chance.

Currently i say: Wow cool change!

But ye, level 300+ Mages with Utani Gran Hur walk waaaaay to fast. You really have to have a great internet connection to even be able to walk on the max speed. So i get why they wanna change this.

A level 175 knight will still be faster than a level 174 knight. It's just that the increase in speed will be less than before the rework. You don't just start getting slower.

I think this is good. My highest char atm is level 61 so that would walk faster :D
And getting to level 175 will take ages for me

Level 300 will be about 17% slower ?!
Then i bet level 500+ can't even walk with strong haste etc.

Wish they'd go back to like 7.6 where you had to aim runes.
hahaha man, nostalgia is kicking in. It's not even nostalgia though, i truly think \/ is a better game than todays tibia.

Why change it? It makes no sense, it's nonsense. Rubbish idea.

This ^. At the moment we can't really predict the severity of the change, however a majority of Cipsoft's major changes and updates have met with disapproval from the community. Tibia players are rather conservative, the fact that Cipsoft has not realized this by now is a real fucking puzzler...

They realised high level mages with mapclick and utani gran hur are overpowered as fuck.

Well, sure. Tibia is not what it used to be. People get 200+ mages in no-time now a days, and they get it by being cheating bastards like we all are. But still, if you play a class with certain advantages to get to a certain point, with months of your life invested (if you don't cheat) you deserve it. It's how the game has been since it's beginning, that's what you signed up for. Can't deal with it? Then it's not a game for you (not pointed at you, just an broad observation).

Yeah, I see your point, they should never have had the speed that high to begin with, or just carefully change the formula little by little each update, no one would notice.

I like this change ... Some very high levels walk insanely fast at the moment !!
ofcourse i feel like a child whos candy has been stolen, but from balance point of view this was needed, its stupid that 400+ mages could run trough anything and monsters couldnt even react. nice change

I'm level 260 and love this change. I've even discussed similar changes I'd like to see before I knew of this change. Speeds are unfair and unrealistic, currently. This is a START, though I think it can be rounded out much better.

This sucks.
On my 300+ Mage I am so slow (Tested on test server) Now it ruins all my (manual) exp/h.
Lizard city? Naaaw, 1.5kk -> 800k/h
HFF + spectre? I might make the same exp/h~ there
Drakens? Hahahahaahah.. Slower drakens + slower me + slower ek = slow hunts
Anyhow. This sucks. Might have to start botting my mage...

Ah it's fine, cuz if you're mage on level 260 you still get the same speed boost as before (LvL 387 speed boost).

It's about time they started changing the very outdated speed formula. I like this update as it will balance out alot.
So i have tested the new speed on my chars, and i must say i like it alot. The new speed of all monsters are also very nice, i love that drags are 70-80% faster then before, and also wyrms are slightly faster.

Guys, you think it sucks, because you will walk slower? Let's think. They said that also monsters walk speed will be changed. That means the percentage diffrence between creatures will be similar. A lot of 300+ levels now can't even walk on full speed.
