I don't think they will just abandon tibia and start a new project, they would make a lot more money changing tibia seeing as there are so many players that has grown up with tibia and they won't leave no matter how much it changes.
I liked Tibia2 idea :]
They need to scale all levels. Make new formulae, and let THE COMMUNITY step in and help them with changes. Then everyone would be scaled onto this new exp. Mauro might go from 650~ -> 450 or something. They would have to increase HP gain by a few after X level.
After that, they need to add some nice new areas that cannot be botted, must be hunted in teams etc~
and I agree with @DarkstaR about the 3-D engine. Basically they need to eliminate botters (Funny saying it on a bot forum.) But in all reality, if we could play manual and have FUN, we would prefer that, no?
Well I haven't read the whole thread tho, but anyway just my sincere opinion on Tibia nowadays.
Well, I've been playing for about 6 years now with massive breaks in between but nevertheless, I've noticed the severe downfall. It changed so much since 7.8 it's insane.
3 main reasons:
1.) Botting lobby (come on, we can't deny it),
2.) Bad updates,
3.) Lack of new players, desperate CipSoft' moves to attract new customers*
*Just tried that new thing when getting out of Rookgaard, DAMN! Fo realz? I've x-logged after first 2 tasks. Seriously, wall of text and nothing really that would attract newcomer's attention.
It's sinking, Tibia's sinking badly! D: Seeing how much it changed in last 5 years, I'll give it 5 more years ... or less. No new players, old ones leaving.
I really hope there will be some sort of Tibia 2.0
Starting over, everyone level 0. and a new world to explore.
Well, i'll just keep dreaming ;)
Facts:
- 90% of people who play Tibia are the same old mother fuckers that used to play more than 5 years ago, there's almost no new players.
- I'd say 80% of all tibian characters have been botted or shared.
- God damn I have play this game since 2002 and to me Ankrahmun still a "new zone", I dont even fucking know half of tibia right now.
Personal opinion:
I dont play tibia so much like I did years ago, but I come online sometimes to keep slaying dragons when bored and bot some characters, I do enjoy the graphics cause it brings back old memories but besides that theres nothing that attracts me to this game, not even making friends since everyone is botting afk. Saying that I estimate that tibia has left around 5 years top, if more I probably wont be here anyways...
PS: We all should have quit this shit a long time ago.
It's an interesting topic indeed, I'd be guessing under five years as well.
I agree with Darkstar on what needs to be changed, however, I do like the 2D graphics.. feels a little indie somehow. I did enjoy client version 7.4 the most I think.
I'd say 1-2 yrs unless they start improving on the graphics, most games coming out nowadays [for example grand theft auto 5] are almost the very same like real life but tibia is nothing like it.
The real truth of it is that Tibia isn't going downhill at all.
What is actually happening is your own mentality (and the rest of us, for that matter) is set on the current. Humans, as a species, do not like change. Therefore when things change, we are unhappy and we see it as bad. That results, overall, in us having the impression that the game is going downhill. That and the fact that no "new player" bothers to use the forum, I didn't use it in my first year of playing. This means that the forum is only used by us grumpy folk who think Tibia is going downhill 'cause it's changing...
People used to say the same about Habbo Hotel when I was a kid. I used to make radio station websites for some friends who played it and all I saw was the members constantly complaining that the game was going downhill and how 1hc is no longer worth what it used to be worth. The thing is, even 7 years later (yes, I played it 7 years ago xD) the game is still going stronger than ever. There are 5000 people playing at 12:15am. On top of that, their revenue in the last quarter was up 19% on what it was through summer (normally it's the other way around, but this year the build up to Christmas, and the paedophile problem which Moshi Monsters has faced has led to a massive increase in users).
Anyway, Tibia isn't really getting any worse, if anything it is getting better, we just can't accept that for the above reasons. Give it time, and you'll see the players increase.
