Computer build what do you think?

    AMD FX-6300 Processor 3.5GHz w/ 14MB Cache
Asus GTX750Ti OC GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB
Corsair CX Series CX500M Modular Power Supply
Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD SATA III w/ 64MB Cache
    Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 w/ DDR3, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan
    RipjawsX Series 8GB PC3-12800 Dual Channel DDR3

It will cost me roughly $600CAD + the price of case, monitor and windows 8.1

Change the CPU, get a SSD (120GB Samsung EVO 840 is a kinda good one for small monies) with the 1TB HDD, also I would take G.Skill 8GB 1600mhz for that setup, for the CPU I would recommend a FX-8350, shouldn't be that much more monies for you.

What's the point of SSD? Why change the CPU? This seems like the best one for a budget-build. I don't really want to spend more money.

SSD read/writes are WAY faster then a HDD. a HDD is a mechanical device with a physical spinning disk. When you try to access the disk much spin to location where the file is so the read/write head can get to it. if the file is fragmented the disk will need to spin even more, this process is sometimes called "seeking". In compassion a SSD is all electrical reading bits from flash storage memory cells with no or little "seeking" time. Search from youtube videos to see the different SSD vs HDD speed text. or SSD vs 5400RPM HDD vs 7200RPM HDD.

SSD are well worth the price. get a 128GB~ SDD, for you OS if you want more storage buy a 1TB HDD.

Thanks man. I found a 120GB Samsung SSD. Do you think I should get this alongside the 1TB HDD I have planned and load the OS onto the SSD?

Also, is it really worth the extra 80$ to upgrade from an FX 6300 to an FX 8350?

a 1TB HDD isnt required. You have several options and it all depends on your needs

[* ]What HDD is in your current system maybe you can re purpose it? If it is SATAII or SATAIII you could use it in your new build, Even if its smaller then 1TB itll be extra storage for videos and music.[*] Do you have a cloud storage account (eg. onedrive, dropbox, or googledrive) with enough space for any files your looking to save?[*] Do you have a NAS set up in your house?
    [/li]
If you have a lot of data you need saved and answered "NO" to all of the above questions you should probably buy a 1TB HDD.

    I don't have a computer right now, I'm using a macbook.

I think I'd be fine with a 500GB HDD as a means of storage, but I really don't think its much different in price.
