It was so inactive at the end. I would hop on every once in a while and the shoutbox would have the same messages i saw a week prior

Isn't that complete tosh? I seem to recall you offered to make another TUGBot or something of that nature, and he refused... Maybe Tug Plus or something? I don't recall seeing XenoBot around until after TUG had died... Maybe just my memory failing, but I'm pretty sure you took advantage of TUG being shut down, and released XB afterwards...
You cannot fail, so I'm lowering the standard.
Xenobot was out before tug shut down. When nick opened up xeno all the tugbotters moved forums and thats when tug pretty much died

Neo got shut down boxing day 2011, I remember that day and ekx's post, I thought BUg was gonna cry aha... So yea xeno was already out, and on xenobot.net you can see that the combo bot on xeno targets a neo botter so they were both around at the same time. As for tug, I just always thought it was cause the xb forums started. When DarkstaR left... Tug was a ghost town.
Personally always used NG but always lurking around all of the bot forums.. (Yes I did use Neo when it was released), always sad when you see something that's been available during a very long time of your career go to waste. Cooperation could've been enhanced (easy for me to say). However, Xenobot is one of the best bots I've used so far, the community is more than great (i.e you nearly always recognize names) and I feel that Xenobot has surpassed Neo, Redbot & iBot a long while ago. Just tried scripting for my first time today (University student, learning programming every day) and the functions are very self-explaining and you can nearly hear on their names what they do.
All in all, I went to TUGbot forums for the trade & screenshot section foremost, but I also think that Xenobot is developing towards the activity that NG and TUGBot both had. I enjoy this community, a lot. There are great admins, showing that age does not matter in terms of maturity and knowledge. Love it. Simply love it.

Before everyone started quitting, TUG was a lot more than just the bot community.
Pretty much after @Luls started tibiacasting free bot 100%afk, it filled with brs and the community died lol.

XenoBot was originally called TUGBot++. After talking with Zyphrus, I was convinced that staying at TUG for my business was a bad idea (who encapsulates a paid product into another persons forum and on that persons host?). Hux did good by me for hosting TUGBot's forums and website, but I needed full control. I bought my own VBulletin and re-named the bot to XenoBot (Spectrus, Messed, Luls, and Zyphrus were big parts of this decision, hence their forum roles). A few months after my forums started getting users, Hux confronted me and wanted to integrate (this was after I had some lifetimes and the forum-based verification was added). I told him I needed full database, ftp, and forum access or it would not even be considered. He said that it was definitely okay by him that I be granted that power. I also told him I have multiple VBulletin plugins (at that time around 5, now around 25) which integrate the bot with the forums - he said all of that would be allowed too. After some consideration, I told him thanks but no thanks and we parted paths. Shortly before this he also offered to buy TUGBot's source for $500, I wanted $3000. I ended up open-sourcing it around the time Xeno was released.
After digging through chatlogs (I save everything, bro), I found this from April 9, 2011:
(5:33 PM) Hux: Ah
What if we convinced you to move back to TUG?
(5:33 PM) Hux: We'd give you a hosted forum as opposed to just a section
(5:34 PM) Hux: hosted board*
(5:34 PM) Hux: Same functionality as your own forum, only on TUG again
(5:34 PM) DarkstaR: you are aware i would need full admin as well right?
well
over my "boards"
(5:34 PM) DarkstaR: and access to hooks on mics.php etc
bot operates based on forum plugins for many things
and plans for many more
including verification systems etc
(5:35 PM) DarkstaR: plus id have alot of stuff to port over
payment status is stored in the users profile
extra database tables
about 5? different plugins
(5:35 PM) DarkstaR: ive written
thats the reason i branched out to begin with
(5:35 PM) Hux: You'll have all the access you need
(5:35 PM) DarkstaR: more potential comes with more control
(5:36 PM) Hux: You're not the kid you were 3 years ago
(5:36 PM) DarkstaR: id like to think so too haha but i do still get tempermental
but i dont go deleting accounts cause im mad or anything
(5:36 PM) Hux: We've done fine since you left, but we'd also like to expand our resources, and I think with Xenobot as an external project is only going to hinder both of our potential
(5:37 PM) Hux: Well, I'm not going to give you access to anything I can't fix But I trust you enough that even if I did you wouldn't break them
(5:38 PM) DarkstaR: I'll think about it cause i know parterning with tug always had good potential in my mind but things with tugbot just ddint go as planned and i wanted to try something new
(5:38 PM) Hux: You'd probably still want to run your store on your host, unless you really wanted to move over - I don't want access to your business side of the house
(5:38 PM) DarkstaR: my store is controlled by vbulletin
subscriptions interface
(5:39 PM) Hux: Can I see your admin cp?
(5:39 PM) DarkstaR: what do you mean see it? like a screeny?
It goes on like this for a while, we part ways, and then a few days later I let him know that I'd rather stay separate.
