I've been playing around with this for the last few days as well. What I've discovered is that it is possible to make a good amount of money off this, but that the best ways to do so are referral links. Keep in mind that the 10% tax is not a bonus for the referral, but actually comes out of the new guys' coffers.
The gameplay is incredibly slow, as they want you to spend money on buying their time boost packages. The developers make money off of these convenience packages as well as a transaction fee (I believe) whenever players sell gold to each other. 1 gold in game is worth approximately 4.5 euro from a reseller (they usually have standing buy orders at 3.5 euro each).
I'm enjoying derping about in there, but I wanted you all to be aware that making money without an initial investment will be challenging. But I enjoy a challenge, so here I am.
