    Hi! what's new?

It's been a while since I played tibia (3 yrs maybe) , and don't really read much about the updates, but what I did notice were several threads on this forum about CIP banning botters.

Can anyone explain to me what happened? what's the difference with the new banwaves than the ones before? did CIP finally wake the fuck up and suddenly started caring about their games, so they started to ban every botter?

I'm not gonna ask the usual question of whether it's worth coming back to tibia or not, but do you guys think it's getting better? thanks

I'm not really convinced they have made any change in the amount of botters they delete. Their numbers arent very high when they make announcements.

With that said, they have taken a stand against dice botters, although they are incredibly easy to spot and delete manually. There have been CIP members seen in-game somewhat often lately. Craban (lead developer?) has been tweeting about some sort of partnership with another company to work on anti-bot stuff, so we'll see where that goes.

    Thanks for the info.

A while ago on various forums including this one there would often be discussion on whether or not CIP actually wanted to ban botters since if they did that would mean a big part of their premium customers would go down, so it was said that CIP could actually ban anyone who botted, they just didn't want to. However you just said that tibia has a partnership with another company to actually get rid of botters, does that mean that CIP weren't really able to ban anyone who botted like it was talked about, and they really want to get rid of botters, even if it means losing business?

If they erased 100% of the botters, they aren't going bankrupt. This is a very common misconception made by people who have absolutely no knowledge of basic economics.
There's a difference between taking in less income and directly going bankrupt. Every company has started with a very small amount of money and built on from there.
It's also very likely that some botters kind of wish botting disappeared, they bot because others do. If botting was completely diminished to nothing, it's likely these type of players will play normal again.
Not only that, there's still a large amount of players who have never botted at all and on top of that, there's still non-botters that are retired due to botting that may come back.
Even if the online count dips to the one-thousands, it can bound to grow again, with a more vibrant and bright group of players, also consider server merges. Server merges are still being planned, in order to save money on server hosts and completely eliminate nearly empty worlds.
Completely disregard what Spectrus said in his first sentence, it's not true. It's pretty obvious that more people are being deleted now than ever.
