Wow, those poll results. It's strange. I suppose XenoBot members are a horrible pool of individuals to collect data from. According to several sources, the iPhone is still the most popular phone in the world, with more than 500 million sold (worldwide) as of June 2014 (all iPhone models up to 5C & 5S).
The iPhone 6 & 6 Plus are expected to be the most sold iPhone's yet (http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/20/7...-2014-earnings). In one quarter, they sold nearly 40 million phones. That's approximately 3 months.
Apple said it sold 39.2 million phones, up big from the 33.8 million iPhones it sold during the same quarter last year.

@J.Dre It isn't the fact that we are bad for data collections. It's the fact that a large portion of this community isn't mind walking zombies that have to have the most over priced phone on the market. Every time I see the Android commercial on tv it makes me laugh because it's so true.

Generally, with personal investments, you really should not be investing in individual corporations like Apple unless you have very high confidence or you feel like making minimal gains, IMHO.
Mutual funds have much higher annual returns, and even the riskiest ones are less risky then even the most reputable corporations. If you want to invest in things like Apple and Google, the best way is through a tech-centric mutual fund that happens to invest in both companies, along with hundreds of others. Honestly, though, I find biotechnology and general utility funds to have the best returns. I'm gaining around 20% annually with this strategy.

Yeah, after reading some other sources online, I found they are not reporting entirely accurate information. As in, they're only reporting one side of the story.
EDIT: It's also worth noting that "nearly 1 billion activated Android devices" make up devices from the following companies:

Not, no its not. Android sells from many companies because its an open platform that encourages any hardware vendor to use it. iOS sells from a single company because it doesn't let anyone else use it. Hardware isn't the discussion here, it's software. and if you try to argue that hardware is part of the iPhone, then that's even worse, as most of the iPhone hardware is made by Samsung. Including the flagship "retina" displays.
