Lightbulb Building a new computer? Need recommendations or advice? Ask here.

What's up, everyone... This is another resource thread for anyone to post in either to receive help or give it.

Lately, I've been helping some people out in this section with computer choices. Some people saw that and have started sending me private messages. I don't mind answering PM's, but it would be better if there was a single thread where everyone may collaborate as I am not always available. I figured it would be nice to have a single thread all about computers (both desktops and laptops) for discussion related to building/upgrade advice, hardware components, new setups (monitors, etc.), Windows support or technical support, etc. So, I've created this thread to tackle those questions or concerns.

I've been building computers for a while now and I'm doing my best to keep up with the latest and greatest components for gamers. I would be willing to offer build advice to anyone interested in it. I'm not going to give you step by step instructions on how to build a computer, but I would be willing to answer any related questions. For example, if you are unsure of what you should purchase and what you should avoid purchasing, I would be more than happy to help you find the most suitable setup, as best I can. I'm not an expert. However, I am very familiar with building and maintaining both desktop computers and laptop computers for the every day consumer or gamer, and I believe I can help.

What do I need from you? YOUR BUDGET! That's where we will start.

With that in mind, please feel free to post below. Even if you don't need advice, you are more than welcome to give it. This thread is open to every member. Please do not argue and start flaming in this thread. Also, don't forget to include your budget in your post. I can't provide you with good suggestions for a PC build if I don't know how much you want to spend!

How to build computers starting around $1500:

    $2000 gaming computer build:

    Water-cooled gaming computer build:

    4k gaming computer:

Note: Some of the components in these videos are outdated and I do not recommend using some of the components!

    so lets start

    my current computer:
    Intel core i3 cpu, 530 @ 2.93 Ghz 293 Ghz
    4 gb ram
    nvidia gforce gt 220
    250 gb ssd

I've got a budget from around 500 euros~, maybe more only if it is really needed. I dont know if i should upgrade this computer or better buy a new one.

I would like to have a computer which can open as many tibia clients as possible on low framerates , like 70-100~

    @jikoe,

With $600 to spend, you'll want to build a new PC. You're going to need a new case, motherboard, PSU, CPU, GPU, and more RAM.

    • Computer Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 Mid Tower [+$50] (Amazon)
    • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz [+$215] (Amazon)
    • GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti Superclocked [+$140] (Amazon)
    • Motherboard: Gigabyte H97 Extreme Micro ATX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 Motherboard [+$89] (Amazon)
    • PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt [+$55] (Amazon)
    • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz [+$77] (Amazon)

    Sub-total: $626~
    Taxes: Unknown
Total: Should be within your budget.

Notes: This computer will be upgradeable for years to come. It is worth the upgrade. It seems like a lot, but it will be great. Make sure your computer has a good fan setup, too. You will need to keep these new components cool and allow them to breathe. You can sell your old components to make some money back, but they're quite ancient. PLEASE DO A FRESH INSTALL OF WINDOWS! I would also recommend purchasing a new SSD, as they're so cheap, but that's up to you.

A lot more than what you can now.

    Your current CPU score: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?...30+%40+2.93GHz
    The 4690k CPU score: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?...0K+%40+3.50GHz

That 750Ti also has 2GB's of GDDR5 memory, which will support dozens of clients, maybe close to 100 with WindAddons. You will need to also lower client settings.

I would need to see your desktop. You may have to purchase a couple more fans to create a "push-pull" setup. You want to pull cool air inside through the front & back, and push the hot air out through the top. Heat rises.

EDIT: It's that much money? You should look up all of those parts and tell me how much it is.

I did look it up. You won't be able to upgrade that with the components I mentioned. That case is too small and will not work well.

Computer Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 Mid Tower [+$50] (Amazon)

Watch the videos above first. They will literally guide you through the entire process.
