    Do you want a case with a window? One without will make less sound. Do you hate LEDs, do you love LEDs?

    I doubt you need the i7 4790K, i5 4690K should be enough and costs 900~ SEK less. The H80i is like 1000 SEK and the fans are very loud, you probably want to replace them.

    I don't think you need 16GB RAM, especially at 2400MHz. You definitely don't need a 2100 SEK motherboard.

    The RM750 costs 5$ more than the RM650.

    You can cut down on a lot of things and put some of the money on a 1440p/4k screen, 980 or other equipment.
    If you don't care for aesthetics and a quiet environment, I can put something together. If you do care, I need more information, pick out a case and what color you're going for and your needs (hdd, sdd, optical drive, monitor etc)
    So, you recommend cutting down on components and getting a higher resolution screen? That makes no sense at all. You're suggesting he get weaker components to support more demanding gaming. By the way, the PSU's are not $5 apart from each other (see here), and he doesn't need 750W. The specs I chose were all looked up at the time of the post and chosen for good reason, including the CPU.

    @nichjeremy,

    Those are decent specs. Not a bad build. Glad to see you got yourself an SSD. That 850W PSU is a bit overkill, though.
    Recent Trades:
    Sold a 450+ EK to Omggg.
    Sold a 400+ RP and 165+ EK to Poppy218.
    Sold 100kk+ in Rowana (Open PVP) to many members.
    Bought characters from Baarj, HonkaPonka, and several others.
    Bought 520kk+ from Wobbz, PunktG, Ghazkyt, Reemow, and many others.

    @nichjeremy,

    Those are decent specs. Not a bad build. Glad to see you got yourself an SSD. That 850W PSU is a bit overkill, though.
    You are suggesting a 1000 SEK (120$) liquid cpu cooler, 1600 SEK (185$) memory, 2100 SEK (240$) motherboard, 1200 SEK (140$) SSD, 1250 SEK (145$) case and last, the unnecessary CPU for 380$.
    None of this makes sense. You are spending hundreds of dollars on unnecessary items.

    Lets swap the h80i (120$) for the common CM hyper 212 evo at 35 bucks. That is 85$ towards something else.
    There's so much memory to chose from, they're all around 85-90$ (2x4 @ 1600), 100$ saved.
    Motherboard, lets say 150$, there's many good motherboards for 150$. 90$ saved.
    The Intel 530 Series 120GB is pretty neat at 80$. 65$ saved.
    Case, honestly you can cheap out how much you want but for now, lets go with some popular ones, like the R5 for 120$, or why the hell not the R4 for 93$, that is pretty fucking sweet.
    CPU, like I said, i5-4690k will do FINE. 110$ saved.

    So that's approx 500$ in the bank and I didn't even mention the PSU, but what I said was correct, I'm talking about swedish vendors here. But he could save 50$~ and buy a cheaper PSU, like the CX series.
    But wait, just for fun, lets make it 585$ because of PSU and the CPU cooler since it really isn't necessary. I don't know if the optical drive is necessary but lets say not and lets add another 50$, im a fair person. So 635$

    So lets see, the cheapest 980 here is the MSI GTX 980 OCV1 for 625$, meaning we have to add 185$ for it (970 is 440$). Well shit. We have a 980 and there's still 450$ in the bank.
    So lets look for a monitor then, the Samsung U28D590D and AOC U2868PQU is 430$.

    Well, shit. We have 20$ left, I wanted a different 980 for you, there's one available for 660$ from Zotac.

    These prices arent 100% accurate. I only used one site so you'll save a few bucks ordering from different stores and there's this:

    http://www.sweclockers.com/annonser
    http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/dator...ter/fyndvaror/
    http://www.tradera.com/
    http://www.blocket.se/

    Tradera & blocket is mostly junk, but you can find some pretty good stuff there. Also netonnet does the same thing as webhallen does, only not online, go there and you'll often find very good deals, I saved 60$ on my 970. There's also very often package deals which will save you 30$~.
    If you buy used from sweclockers, tradera or blocket, you will (with a little patience) save a lot of money.
    also if you live in Stockholm, I can sell you my old PSU and Optical drive for 50% store price, approx 55$ for both.

    So J.Dre, does it make sense now?

    But like I said, if you care for aesthetics, this is not the way to go.

    Also about nichjeremy's build. That isn't decent, I'm sorry. He wasted 90$ on Windows, he bought an i5-4670k instead of i5-4690k, overkill PSU, bad CPU cooler and an optical drive. He could have bought a 970 for that money instead and a better CPU for less money.

    edit: and better memory and ssd
    edit2: and a better case

    No, it doesn't make sense. You're putting the price tag above all else with your suggestions. That's not good advice. He gave me a budget and asked my opinion on what's best, and that's exactly what I delivered. He didn't say, "I want to have a cheap build." Otherwise, I would have given him a cheap build. Yes, I would have probably been able to do better if I had known the exact currency conversion rates, but I "ball parked" it in anticipation for inflation.

    What you're suggesting is inferior in almost every aspect. The major issue with your suggestion is a weak CPU in combination with a flagship GPU - absolutely ridiculous combination for a desktop build that you want to last through upgrades down the road. The system specs I gave will last years longer, ultimately saving him money from having to upgrade to compensate for the lost performance about a year from now, offering a better foundation for upgradeability down the road. Also, purchasing a GTX 980 right now is not a wise decision (unless you get an excellent deal), especially since he doesn't need it. The 980Ti will be coming out soon, and next year Pascal will hit the market offering substantial improvements across the board. Spending $300~ on the 970 (which is more than enough to satisfy his needs & wants) is likely his best option. Everything I suggested has reasoning behind it, and actually saves him money (and time) long-term while satisfying all short-term needs and wants.

    It's one thing to help, but you came here looking for a fight with your attitude. Your failed attempts at proving me wrong isn't helping anyone. This thread is a resource thread. You are proving yourself to be unresourceful. Stop trying to prove people wrong when you have no idea what you're talking about. You're only making yourself look like a fool.

    If he wants to go cheap, and would like to disregard any future plans or possibilities with his build, he's free to follow your advice. But that's not what he asked for. My suggestions give him a good place to start for performance, price, and longevity.

    I went with the 850w and the oc genie 4 motherboard so i could run SLI In the future and not have to do any major part replacements. I know i dont need a 4k monitor now but in the future it looks like they will become more common and affordable

    That is understandable. Considering future plans is important in any build unless you're restricted to a tight budget.

    By the way, did I recommend a build for you? Don't recall doing so, and I'm on a cell at the moment, so it's a pain to go through threads.

    @nichjeremy,

    You should have given me a heads up about the change of heart. I would have suggested some different stuff.

    Your right about the cpu i noticed that after. But the 960 im running is ssc and its already superclocked to high mghz than the 970 that u recommended. Im planning on overclocking the system up to 20% my entire build only cost me 1109$ and the dvd burner i have does everything all in one for 21$ im going to run SLI later and i have a tri led montior set up right now. Which will have a 4k monitor later so i planned for thr overkill psu

    Hate to break it to you, but 4k gaming is not going to be something you'll enjoy with those system specs. You'll have to lower graphics settings quite a bit. Even then it may be a struggle. Unless you plan to use 4k for graphics design or photo editing, I suggest avoiding it altogether. You should have let me know.

    I'd suggest watching some gameplay videos at 4k with various GPU's. Even the GTX 980 struggles at 4k on the highest settings (< 50 FPS).

    4k is not 200% scaling on 1080p. This is a common misconception, especially amongst BF4 players. 1080p has 2 million pixels and 4k has more than 8 million. So, it's technically 400%. This translates to up to 4x less FPS in games.
