Xenobot and Tibia on Linux

Hello there, in this little tutorial I'll be showing you how to install and run Xenobot in Ubuntu. In total it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes if done correctly.
For those of you who don't know what Ubuntu is, it's a FREE operating system that I happen to prefer over Mac and Windows. It is open source and perfect =P. I urge everyone to at least test it. Tibia and Xenobot actually run better for me on Ubuntu then on Windows (which surprised me) You can get Ubuntu (or test it out) at: www.ubuntu.com In the thread, I will try to add as many pictures as I can. I won't, however, put them in the thread itself and will post a link after each instruction that you can consult should you need to.
Getting Started
Things you will need:
Step One:
- Open up Terminal (by pressing the Ubuntu logo on the top-left corner (or press the "Windows" key) and typing Terminal)
- Type in the following:
- It will ask for your password. Type it in. Then, type in the following lines:

add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
apt-get update
apt-get install wine1.5
apt-get install winetricks
- Note that during these processes, it will ask you to press some keys (Enter and Y, I believe).
- Close the Terminal
Step Two:
- Extract Tibia and Xenobot to any folder inside your home folder
EX: ( /home/*username*/ or /home/*username*/Games ) - If you wish, do what I do and keep the Xenobot folder inside of the Tibia folder (just seems better organized to me I guess)
Step Three:
- Just as you had searched for Terminal earlier, search for WINE, and click on the first option
- Click on "Default Settings"
- Close to the bottom of the window, click on the drop-down menu and select "Windows 98"
- Close the settings window
Step Four: The only steps you actually have to remember
- Open Tibia
- Open Xenobot
- Inject Xenobot
Extras
Creating Desktop Shortcuts:
On Ubuntu, it used to be really easy to create desktop shortcuts. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. I'm sure they'll make it simple again soon but, until then, follow these directions to add Tibia and Xenobot to your Desktop. With this method, however, Tibia icon and Xenobot icon don't show up. There are instructions later in the tutorial to help you obtain the original icons.
Steps:
- Open a Terminal Window (Follow instruction picture above)
- Type:
- Enter your password
- Type: (Press Y and ENTER when prompted)

sudo apt-get install gnome-panel
gnome-desktop-item-edit ~/Desktop/ --create-new
- Fill in the required information
- Done!
Getting the Icons:
- Download the Icon Extracter <HERE>
- Extract the EXE (not other files) into your home folder (or a subfolder)
- Open the program, click on "Browse Folders...", and select your tibia folder. (Don't forget to click on "Search Subfolders" if the Xenobot folder is inside the Tibia Folder)
- Click on "Search for Icons"
- Click on the Icons you want (Ctrl+Click for multiple Icons)
- Click on the Save Icon in the top-left corner and click on "Save Icons"
- Drag the Icons you want to their designated folders (Tibia Icon in Tibia Folder, etc)
- Open each Icon and save them as a PNG Image
- Open the "Create Launcher" Program (opened in the last set of steps)
- Click on the Icon (It's the image to the left)
- Locate and Select the Folders with the Icon you want for each program (one at a time)
I really hope you enjoyed my thread, I put a lot of hard work into this and hope it helps a lot of people. As I said earlier, I REALLY urge you all to try using Ubuntu. My Tibia actually runs smoother then ever on here =) and the OS is really small.
Also, note that I have included two .ZIP files. One if for Xenobot and one is for Tibia. The Xenobot one is required because the Xenobot installer will not work. You can, however, install Tibia via the normal installer but it'll get a little comlicated as you'd have to find your Ubuntu home folder.
When you open Xenobot, a new folder should be created in your home folder (and thus, you shouldn't leave the actual Xenobot folder in the main directory. Put it inside the Tibia folder). This new folder is the one where you put Scripts and Settings for the bot.
