He can always upgrade. The 680M is very cost-friendly now.
It's still 400$ ~ give or take a bit for a card that is 3 years old now..

The one thing I hate about upgrading laptops, the fact that suppliers only sell to the OEM.

No problems yet and I've owned it for 4 years now and have pushed the GPU hard for long hours and I also have it overclocked.

barley gets warm really(It does always sit on a really nice cooling pad that ensures the vents have clear ventilation)

I find most heat issues with laptops are lack of or poor user maintenance.

but I'm almost OCD about cleaning any comp I own, every month and everything down to wiping each fan blade down with a q-tip and replacing heat-sync paste.
    O C Delightful!

I have been watching the prices of the 680M, prob will throw one in and get a little more juice.

Yes it's a bit harder to find hardware compared to desktop versions but still able to find anything you need, just gotta dig a little deeper in some cases.

The 680M is worth the cost. It's much better. That or a 780M is what I recommend. Both great.
    Recent Trades:
Sold a 450+ EK to Omggg.
    Sold a 400+ RP and 165+ EK to Poppy218.
Sold 100kk+ in Rowana (Open PVP) to many members.
Bought characters from Baarj, HonkaPonka, and several others.
Bought 520kk+ from Wobbz, PunktG, Ghazkyt, Reemow, and many others.

Looking at the 780m and it seems I would need to mod my drivers for it to work, not true with the 680m... wonder why.

The 680M was made for the M17x R4. That's basically why (in layman's terms). If you're not "tech-savvy" enough, just grab the 680M. It performs within 10%-20% of the 780M.

The 780M is a slightly better card. It has more vRAM and more cores. It will perform a bit better for approximately the same price. The installation process is actually quite simple. You need to follow this guide to modify the drivers.

You will need a 240W PSU and a triple-pipe heat sink for both cards, and of these can be found on eBay.

I'm tech-savvy enough to install it and all, I know the requirements, just didn't realize I needed to mod my drivers until I looked into it, I know it's a simple process, but i'll probably go with the 680m, it's enough of an upgrade for me, since the 660M serves all my needs without any problem.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Sager NP9752-S. Should ship out this week. It's a beast 15.6" laptop. Should do me well.

The most favorable aspect of it, in my opinion, is the fact that it's completely upgradeable.
