I play on a retro-pvp world, and am afraid to activate Avalanche Rune. Does it not use it if players are around, or does it use regardless? (I am not concerned if people jump down stairs when avalanching, just if it sees players and doesn't).

It won't shoot it if a player is on-screen and in the spell's blast area.
That's a feature built into XenoBot but personally I haven't tested it.
