Change the CPU, get a SSD (120GB Samsung EVO 840 is a kinda good one for small monies) with the 1TB HDD, also I would take G.Skill 8GB 1600mhz for that setup, for the CPU I would recommend a FX-8350, shouldn't be that much more monies for you.
What's the point of SSD? Why change the CPU? This seems like the best one for a budget-build. I don't really want to spend more money.
SSD read/writes are WAY faster then a HDD. a HDD is a mechanical device with a physical spinning disk. When you try to access the disk much spin to location where the file is so the read/write head can get to it. if the file is fragmented the disk will need to spin even more, this process is sometimes called "seeking". In compassion a SSD is all electrical reading bits from flash storage memory cells with no or little "seeking" time. Search from youtube videos to see the different SSD vs HDD speed text. or SSD vs 5400RPM HDD vs 7200RPM HDD.Quote:

I don't have a computer right now, I'm using a macbook.
I think I'd be fine with a 500GB HDD as a means of storage, but I really don't think its much different in price.

Yea, 320 is a nice one aswell. I got that one myself. When it comes to playing games like Shadows of Mordor you'll def. need a good CPU. Also you can "unpark" the cores so everything will use every core, not just 2 or 4.
I got the Samsung EVO 840 120GB, why 120GB? Cuz its lifetime span is better than the 128GB.
And about the HDD, I got a 3TB HDD, and It's nearly full while having OS and the most games I play on the SSD. JUST the SSD with 120GB is kinda sucky, since sooner or later it will be full, for SURE. Invest those 40 bucks in a 1TB, think about it :p

I agree with everyone else about getting Windows 7 over Windows 8, especially on a desktop machine. At least until Windows 10 comes out. Personally, I would wait and save up for a SSD, a better CPU, and a better graphics card. Your setup is fine for your budget, but you'll be kicking yourself for not spending a little more money for better parts. But, at the end of the day, you should only spend as much as you're comfortable with, and on the parts you want.

As far as graphics cards, I'm not the ideal person to ask. I haven't built, or thought about building, a computer in years, and I don't game so my Macbook does everything I need it to (school stuff, programming, Internet browsing). I do know that you're probably better off buying parts from Newegg or TigerDirect than your local computer store.

To save some money, just remove the SSD. It's not necessary. You may think the memory is also unnecessary, but it's only $10 more than 1600MHz memory. So, why not? The GPU price is an estimation. This may go up or down a little bit, but the rest is spot on. That is the best configuration I could come up with right now. Maxwell consumes (on average) 30% less energy. So, a 500W PSU should be plenty.

If you absolutely cannot wait until next month, then yeah, I guess the GTX 750Ti is an acceptable card for your budget. However, the GTX 760 is the card I recommend you take a look at. The 760 performs about 30% better and is only $70~ more than the 750Ti. :cool:Quote:
